What drew Ben and I to Horizons Village and to stay in Nelson? We loved the privacy, peace, and quiet of Horizons. We love to have so many trees around us that protect our privacy but also are a shelter for diverse wildlife and birds. We love the abundance of our clean well water that we drink and water our veggie garden with. We love Nelson because of its unspoiled scenic beauty, rural character and simple way of life. We love the Rockfish valley because it has found a beautiful way to sustain itself without major industrial development.
My fears of the pipeline are many. The large scale construction would disrupt the simple style of living that Nelson County offers to its residents and visitors and the ACP corridor will leave a large scar on the mountains forever. I am concerned about our ground water. Quality and quantity would be enormously affected by blasting in to the mountains behind our house. I am worried about a pipeline explosion and last but not least I am worried that my property value will greatly depreciate due to the proximity to the pipeline.
I want the pipeline to not be approved or moved to existing rights of ways, to areas that have already been compromised in the past and not take new National forest and state park land, or to go through private properties. I would be very opposed and vote against any politician, on local, state or federal level, if they support this project to go through our lands knowing that is all for export and with minimum benefit to us, the US citizens. Any politician that puts Dominion's profits before its constituent’s interests will be on my black list.
